Cobb County Commission approved a rezoning application for City View Holdings to construct a 33-story retirement high-rise tower on Cumberland Boulevard west of Cobb Parkway. City View Holdings requested rezoning from UC (Urban Condominium Residential) to UC With Stipulations.
The UC district allows the development of high rise residential condominium dwelling units, including the combination of low and mid-rise condominium buildings. There is no maximum building height for urban condominiums constructed within a UC district. Rather, the number of stories and building heights for such projects is to be determined on a case by case basis.
“This is going to be the tallest building in the county at that time,” said County Commission Chairman Sam Olens.
The proposed residential building will become the tallest building in Cobb County housing 200 independent living units on 25 floors and 54 assisted living units on four floors. The other floors will be used for support services.
By comparison, the Riverwood 100 office tower at 3350 Riverwood Parkway is only 23 floors.
